Poor, neglected blog!
Apologies to the 45 subscribers that we do have (ha!).
The past two months just got so crazy and busy that blogging was obviously something that had to be cut out.
But amidst a lot of work, celebrating birthdays, anniversaries, family vacations, friend visits and other things, we're back and will hopefully be updating more!
I'll leave you with a picture.
Colin and I were able to spend our 2nd wedding anniversary in DC, as you know, which was a lot of fun! On Saturday night we went to go see FC Barcelona (Go, Barca!) play Manchester United. It was stressful getting there-- between being pressed up against random, sweaty strangers in the metro for 30 minutes (like sardines. up close and personal.) on the way there to having to run the mile (in 100+ degree heat, UPHILL.) from the station to the field, only to miss the kick-off... but we made it. It was a blast! Barcelona, sadly, got taken to school by Man U but we really enjoyed ourselves. It's such a blessing to be able to have awesome life experiences with Colin. When we get to take interest in something together... I love it.

1. Peaceful days, where I can sleep in with Colin, sit in the living room with the windows open, listen to music and make grocery lists. I'm actually almost thankful for being sick this past week-- it forced me to relax, because I couldn't do much else. Not work, not scramble to get things done... just wind down. Now, I feel rejuvenated to go back to work and do the things that need to be done this week!
2. I know the whole internet world is abuzz about Adele, but if anyone's worth the hype, this girl is. She makes me believe that there is talent out there in a world where every voice we hear on the radio is auto-tuned. It's hard to believe that such a mature sound can come out of such a young person... her first album (which is incredible) was recorded when she was 19 years old!
3. So much coming up in the next months-- to top it all off, we're planning our second wedding anniversary trip! I can't even believe it'll be two years of marriage in July. We already booked our hotel and flight (thank you, thank you, tax returns!). Since we did something very Rachel-friendly last year (not that Colin didn't want to do it and didn't love it, but laying in the sun is definitely my thing), we're going to do something different this year. We'll be spending a long weekend in D.C., seeing the museums and sites, going to a nice dinner on our anniversary, then we're going to go see Manchester United and Barcelona play at Fed Ex field! We are so excited! We feel blessed to be able to do things like this together.
4. I'm also on the hunt for the perfect everyday shoe. I've had two pairs of TOMS now, but honestly the two things that attracted me to them in the first place (them being different and also the company's philanthropy) have come and gone. Literally everyone in the world has a pair now, but mainly the allocation of their (abundant!) resources and their stewardship is kinda sketchy. I like the idea of a shoe that goes with anything and is effortless-- I've been eying a few pairs of keds but can't commit. Any thoughts?
5. Kevin comes tomorrow! We get our friend back for the week. It's a harsh reality of post-college life that people move away and you rarely get to see them. Fortunately, sometimes you do :)

1. Now is when it counts. We will continue to confess God as our Provider and place our situation in His capable hands, because He is faithful and good, even/especially in times of need. Yesterday, literally hours before a lot of things fell through, Colin and I were riding in the car together, and I told him I believed that, although we have been abundantly blessed in the past few months, we would still trust our God, even if and when we weren't in a time of financial stability. That He has strengthened us and been faithful to us and shown Himself trustworthy so well that we should never doubt. So we continue to place our lives in His capable hands. We relish the opportunity to learn more and more what true reliance is. Thank you, Jesus.

3. We had the privilege of spending our first anniversary at our friends Patrick and Dayna's wedding. Seriously, what an awesome way to spend your anniversary... celebrating the joy of marriage! It was such a fun wedding, too. We are overjoyed for them both. Tonight, though, we are going to go out and have an anniversary date, compliments of Mama Fien, and enjoy Colin's new-found freedom from waking up at 5 am. We get to stay out late! This morning we actually got to wake up together, too! So, as per usual, we are hitting up MVista for our favorite sushi and drinks. Thanks, Mom!
4. By the way, what is everyone's take on sushi in Columbia? I know that everyone has their favorite. Colin and I have been to most places, but haven't found anything better than Miyo's. We've heard that Camon is supposed to be the best sushi in town, but we're scared to stray and be disappointed because of how expensive it is there. Anyone have any opinions?
5. Yesterday Colin got off work early so we ran errands together in the afternoon. He went thrifting with me, we took care of some stuff that needed to be done, and then we made the mistake of going to World Market. uuuuuggghhhhhh. we wanted coasters. that's it, plain and simple. we walked out with a hanging lantern, ceramic furniture knobs for the dresser i'm going to refinish, and coasters. that place is torture. pure torture. On the topic of thrifting, though, I love sifting through the boxes of books at His House. I always leave with at least a few books and they give them to you for about .25 cents. yesterday I picked up some Shakespeare and The Runaway Bunny. anyone read that as a child? I loved it.

i like when you break into spontaneous dance, complete with arms flailing and/or black girl ghetto booty dancing. it truly doesn't matter if anyone is watching or cares, and i like that.
i like when you call me names according to what i'm wearing in the most endearing voice ("hey, loose jeans!")
i like the way you ask me, "how's your heart today?"
i like the way you love Jesus, and talk about Him with reverence as well as familiarity and closeness. i like learning from you.
i like the way you ask me to scratch your back with the most urgent voice, like your life depended on it. then again 1 minute later.
i like how adamant you are when you tell me that i'm beautiful. and that you won't let me get away with thinking otherwise.
i like that you're still excited to see me every single day, and get a ridiculous grin on your face when you do. i am so blessed to be the reason for that smile.
i like waking up in the morning knowing that there is a text message from you in my inbox, reminding me that i am loved by both you and the Lord.
i like hearing you talk about our future family. i like to think of you being my baby daddy, and sharing your tenderness and passion with little beings that we create together.
today marks our first full year of marriage.
the past year being married to this man has been, hands down, the best year of my life.i still look over at him sleeping at night or in the morning and get chills and my heart leaps, because i'm so happy to see him there and to know that this is real.
it's weird how you can love someone more and more everyday..
and scary that we thought we were "in love" last year (and the year before that, and the year before that). compared to what we have now, that was just silly talk!
